Demolition Guards

Rock or FOPS Demolition Guards are designed to protect machine operators from falling objects when working in either quarries or on demolition sites. Our guards include a removable front grill to aid visibility when front screen protection is not required as well as a raised section in the roof to allow the machines skylight (where fitted) to open. These guards can be fitted on site by our team of fitters or bought as a self-fit kit.

Designed to meet and exceed the FOPS standard BS EN ISO 3449 & ISO10262.
Independently Tested and Certified by BSI.
Standard designs for many popular machines.
Providing protection to both cab and operator.
Raised roof to allow opening of skylight.
Front peak to allow better protection from falling objects and to allow better visibility.
Rock or Demolition Guards are designed to protect the driver from falling objects, when working in either quarries or on demolition sites. Cabcare/Tanmill rock guards have been supplied direct to many of the leading machine manufactures for over 20 years and where one of the first manufactures to acquire FOPS certification of its guards. Following extensive computer stress analysis/modeling and testing in conjunction with, BSI (British Standards Institute), a “Notified Body” under the Machinery Directive. To ensure ongoing compliance we have invested in our own test rig at Cabcare, allowing ongoing testing and analysis of the guards to the FOPS test standard BS EN ISO 3449 & ISO10262.

There are two standard types of Rock/Demolition FOPS guard chassis mounted and cab mounted.

Chassis Mounted Guard

The chassis mounted FOPS guard is bolted to substantial brackets which are welded to the chassis in front of and behind or to the side of the cab. This type of guard provides the highest level of protection to the machine and driver. Any impact force from falling debris is absorbed by the guard and passed down through the legs to the chassis and not causing damage to the cab or its mounts. The key features of the Cabcare guard are;

Roof extending over front grill. Gives more protection to the front grill from objects falling from height and better visibility.
Peaked roof bars allow the skylight to open for better visibility, when working above.
The front grill is mounted away from the windscreen. To allow easy cleaning of the window and fitting of vandal guards.
Removable front grill to aid visibility when front protection is not required.
Designed to meet and exceed the FOPS standard BS EN ISO 3449 & ISO10262 Level II.
Most guards are designed with the legs behind the cab. No leg down the side of the machine preventing the door opening fully and increasing the width on the machine.
Can be fitted on site by our welders or can be easily fitted by a competent welder.

Cab Mounted Guard

The cab mounted guard is designed in a similar style to the chassis mounted guard and exhibits many of the same key features. The roof guard mounts to the same cab mounting points provided by the cab manufacture. The front screen hangs from the roof bars and is bolted to the bottom of the cab. Any impact form debris is absorbed by to guard and passed onto the cab. This does mean that any server impacts can cause damage to the cab or its mounts due to this transfer of energy. This type of guard can only be certified on newer cabs which have been FOPS certified by the manufacture. The key features of the Cabcare guard are;

Bolts on to cab no welding required. Easily fitted and removed.
Designed to meet and exceed the FOPS standard BS EN ISO 3449 & ISO10262 Level II.
